An Ode to Imam Mahdi (at.f.s.) - Worth Pondering

Even if we pursue over the entire universe, we will not find a friend like Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s.) because:

We may not remember HIM but HE always remembers us

We may desert HIM but HE never forsakes us

We may oppress HIM a lot, but HE never stops granting favours upon us

Pseudo Mahdi

The belief of a redeemer (A person who will come and fill the world with justice and equality) is such an entrenched belief in the hearts of the people that many people have used this belief throughout history to beguile gullible people to create a fan-following for them and thus leading to creation of cult like sects.

False Claimant of Representatives of Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s) - Abu Tahir Muhammad Ibne Ali Ibne Bilal (l.a.).

(Reference :  Behaarul Anwaar : Vol. 51, Ch :22)

One of them is Abu Tahir Muhammad Ibne Ali Ibne Bilal. His story and what happened between him and Abu Ja’far Muhammad Ibne Uthman Amari, may Allah lighten his visage, is well-known. He seized the assets of the Imam, which were in his hands and refused to deliver them, and claimed that he is the representative. the congregation turned away from him and beseeched damnation for him and the famous letter came from the Master of the Age (a.s.).

False Claimant of Representatives of Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s) - Muhammad bin Nasir Numairi (l.a.)

(Reference : Behaarul Anwaar : Vol. 51, Ch: 22)

Says Ibne Nuh, Abu Nasr Hibatullah Ibne Muhammad said: Muhammad Ibne Nasir Numairi was from the companions of Abu Muhammad Hasan Ibne Ali (a.s.). And when Abu Muhammad was transferred to his eternal abode, Muhammad claimed the position of Abu Ja’far Muhammad Ibne Uthman, that is, he claimed that he was the deputy of the Imam of the Age. He claimed “Babiyya,” that is, to be a gateway to the Imam. Allah disgraced and humiliated him through the blasphemy and ignorance, which he manifested, and through the curse of Abu Ja’far Muhammad Ibne Uthman and his dislike and denunciation of him. He claimed this position after Shari.

False Claimant of Representatives of Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s) - Abu Muhammad Hasan Shari (l.a.)

(Reference : Behaarul Anwaar : Vol. 51)
Shaykhut Taifa says in Kitab Ghaibat :

The first one of them is the one known as Shari. A group of scholars narrated to us from Abu Muhammad Talakbari on the authority of Abu Ali Muhammad Ibne Himam, saying, Shari’s patronymic was Abu Muhammad. Harun said: I think his name was Hasan and he was from the companions of Abul Hasan Ali Ibne Muhammad and then after him from the companions of Hasan Ibne Ali.He is the first one who claimed a position that Allah did not assign to him and he was not qualified for it.

Appointed Representative / Emissary : Abu Ja’far Muhammad Ibne Uthman (a.r.)

(Reference : Behaarul Anwaar Vol. 51)

When Abu Amr Uthman Ibne Saeed died, his son Abu Ja’far Muhammad Ibne Uthman stood in his place, on the virtue of the clear instructions of Imam Hasan Askari (a.s.) and the instructions of his father about the time of the Qaim (a.s.).A group of scholars narrated to me on the authority of Abul Hasan Muhammad Ibne Ahmad Ibne Dawood Qummi and Ibne Qulawayh from Saad Ibne Abdullah, saying, the Veracious Shaykh Ahmad Ibne Ishaq Ibne Saad Ashari narrated to us, and then he mentions the account which we brought earlier.

A group of our scholars narrated to me from all of the eminent personages of Abul Qasim Ja’far Ibne Muhammad Ibne Qulawayh and Abu Ghalib Razi and Abu Muhammad Talakbari, who all narrate from Muhammad Ibne Yaqub Kulaini, who narrates from Muhammad Ibne Abdullah and Muhammad Ibne Yahya, who narrate from Abdullah Ibne Ja’far Himyari, saying, I and Shaykh Abu Amr were with Ahmad Ibne Ishaq Ashari Qummi. Ahmad Ibne Ishaq made a gesture to me to ask him about the successor. So, I asked him, “O Abu Amr, I want to ask you a question;however, I am not unsure about what I want to ask you, for my faith and my belief is that the earth does not remain without a Hujjah, unless it is forty days prior to Judgement day.

Appointed Representative / Emissary : Uthman bin Saeed Amri(a.r.)

(Reference : Behaarul Anwaar Vol. 51)

The author says: Then Shaykh Tusi mentions some of the companions of the Imams, Divine bliss be for them, who have been praised. And then he says, Of the emissaries in the time of the minor occultation, who have been extolled, their first one is the person appointed by Abul Hasan Ali Ibne Muhammad Askari and his son Abu Muhammad Hasan Ibne Ali Ibne Muhammad, peace be with them all. He was the reliable scholar Abu Amr Uthman Ibne Saeed Amari and was from the tribe of Asad. He has been called Amari on the virtue of the narration of Abu Nasr Hibatullah Ibne MuhammadIbne Ahmad Katib Ibne binte Abi Ja’far Amari saying, He was from the Asad, and is known by his grandfather’s name and therefore, it is said Amari.

Meeting With Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s) - Incident of Ismail Bin Hasan Harqali

(Reference : Najmuth Saquib Ch:7, Behaarul Anwaar Ch:23)

The accomplished scholar, Ali bin Isa Irbili says in Kashful Ghummah that: Some people informed me from my trusted friends that there was a person in Hilla known as Ismail bin  Hasan Harqali from a village known as Harqal, who died during my time, but whom I did not have a chance to meet.

His son Shamsuddin narrated to me that his father said that an abscess came up on his left thigh and became as big as a fist. This abscess was there for a long time and it particularly gave him severe during the spring season. He used to lose a it of blood through  He said that he wasn't able to properly offer his mandatory prayers because of the abscess. He worried so much about this that he went from village to the town of Hilla. There he met Sayyid Raizuddin Ibne Taoos, who was the most eminent scholar of the Shia during those days although he wasn't recognised as their Pontiff, only perhaps because he abstained from issuing edicts to the believers. Ismail Harqali met him and explained his problem.

(Reference : Behaarul Anwaar Volume 52, Ch: 29)
Allamah Majlisi says: I heard from some reliable scholars that in the time of the British rule in Bahrain, they appointed a Sunni Muslim as governor despite the fact that the majority of the population was Shia. There was also a particular Sunni minister who was an enemy of the Shia. One day he brought a pomegranate to the governor. On the pomegranate, the names of Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and Imam Ali (a.s.) were found, together with the inscription that these were the four Rightful Caliphs of the Muslims.

“La Ilaaha Illa Allah, Mohammed Rasool Allah, Abu Bakr wa Omar wa Othman wa Ali Kholefa’a Allah”

Meeting with Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s) - Incident of Man from Qashan

Some natives of Najaf Ashraf narrated to me that a man of Qashan set out for Hajj and when he reached Najaf Ashraf, he was struck by a severe illness and his legs developed gangrene. His co-travelers left him in charge of a nice man who lived in a room of the school in the holy shrine courtyard and they continued their journey. The man used to lock him in the room everyday and leave in search for Durre Najaf stones in the desert.

One day that Qashani said to that man: I am fed up with this room, please take me out and make me sit somewhere and then you can go on your way.

Meeting with Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s) - The Incident of Tahyul Arz

(Reference Behaarul Anwaar : Voume 52, Ch. 29)

In our time was a noble and righteous personality by the name of Amir Ishaq Astarabadi. He had completed 40 Hajjs on foot. It was famous among the people that the earth used to fold up for him. One year he came to Isfahan. I went to him to ask him about the fame he had earned. He told me: “The cause of that honor is that one year when I was on my way to the Holy House of Allah, along with other pilgrims, and when we were at a distance of seven or nine stages from Mecca, I was, for some reason, left behind the caravan and soon they went out of my sight. I lost my way and overcome with thirst, I was about to die when I prayed:

Meeting with Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s) - Account of Ibrahim ibne Mahezyaar

Shaikh Saduq narrates from Mohammed bin Musa bin Mutawakkil who narrates from Abdullah bin Jafar Hamri who narrates from Ibrahim ibne Mahazyaar:
“To know about the son of Imam Hasan Askari(a.s.) and his condition, I undertook a journey to Medina. But inspite of many enquiries I could not know about his whereabouts.
Then in a dejected state I went to Mecca Mukarrama. Once I was busy doing the tawaf of Kaaba, that my eyes fell on an extremely handsome and pleasant youth. When I saw his enlightened face immediately a thought crossed my mind maybe due to this youth Allah may fulfil my wishes. With this thought I approached that youth and coveyed my salutations to him.
